Anthony Hopkins To Feast As Hannibal Again

Sir Anthony Hopkins is teaming up with director Sir Ridley Scott to bring his most infamous villain Hannibal Lecter back to the big screen.
The actor will reprise his cannibalistic serial killer for the fourth time in a second sequel to the 1991 hit film The Silence of the Lambs, for which he won a Best Actor Oscar.
Hopkins also appeared in 2001's Hannibal before starring in the 2002 prequel Red Dragon.
And actress Cate Blanchett has been tipped to take over the role of Clarice Starling after Jodie Foster pulled out to direct Claire Danes in the forthcoming Flora Plum.
A spokesperson for film-makers Universal says, "Hopkins and Scott are both very committed. We like what we've got, and the revised script is really, really good." IMDB

Ridley Scott Considers Return to Aliens?
During an interview with IESB.net (in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine world premiere), Fox Co-Chair Tom Rothman said:
"There's been some talk. Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he's toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it's always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I've got my fingers crossed, all of them."

Agent Denies Russell Crowe/Ridley Scott Rift
A Hollywood agent representing both actor Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott has denied the pair has fallen out over their new movie Nottingham.
The duo has teamed up for the upcoming film, the story of mythical English outlaw Robin Hood, which is their fourth movie project together.
The picture, which will begin filming in the U.K. in March, has been hit by rumours of an ongoing feud between Crowe and Scott, with some internet gossips suggesting the actor is angling to get the filmmaker replaced.
But a spokesperson for George Freeman, of Hollywood talent agency William Morris, who represents both stars, is adamant that the rumours are not true, insisting the pair attended a pre-production meeting last week (beg15Dec08) and everything went smoothly.
The rep tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "There is absolutely no truth to this (rumour)."IMDB

Ridley Scott will direct 'The Forever War'
By Scott Weinberg,Cinematical
October 13,2008
Say what you like about the collected works of Mr. Ridley Scott, but when this man sets out to make a science fiction film ... good things happen. The always-busy director has only done two sci-fi films, but those ones are called Blade Runner and A L I E N. Since Blade Runner in 1982, Scott has kept busy with big hits (like Gladiator) and big misses (like this past weekend's Body of Lies) -- but it looks like the man is heading back into the speculative realm once he's done with that crazy Nottingham project.
According to Variety, Scott will direct an adaptation of Joe Haldeman's The Forever War, which the filmmaker wanted to make a long time ago, but there were all sorts of rights issues involving FX genius Richard Edlund, who "bought" the book right when it was published. For his part, Ridley Scott seems enthused: "I first pursued 'Forever War' 25 years ago, and the book has only grown more timely and relevant since ... It's a science-fiction epic, a bit of 'The Odyssey' by way of 'Blade Runner,' built upon a brilliant, disorienting premise."
That premise isn't laid out all that well in Variety, so for that we'll look to Amazon: OK, so I was going to paste the whole breakdown, but here's my interpretation: It's the future and mankind is at war with the Taurans, only we use ships that allow its crew members to age really slowly, so when this one guy comes back home and cannot adjust to the 1-to-27-year ratio, he keeps signing back up for battle after battle. Or something close to that. Clearly I need to get this book. (More info here, but watch out for spoilers.)

Ridley Scott Confirms 'Brave New World'
By Jessica Barnes,Cinematical
October 7,2008
We might have all seen this coming, but then again, it is always nice to know you're right.
The sci-fi blog, Io9 has now confirmed that Ridley Scott's next project will be a feature film version of Brave New World, Aldous Huxley's classic novel. In an interview with the blog, Scott told them about the origins of the project. Scott says, "I didn't choose to do it, someone came to me with it. In fact it was Leo's [Leonardo DiCaprio's] production company that came to me with that." Could this mean that Scott already has Mr. DiCaprio in mind for a role in the film as well? Rumblings about the project started back in June, when Scott announced that he was finally making a return to sci-fi -- but he wasn't giving away details at the time. As it turns out, the smart money was on a big screen version of Huxley's prophetic novel.
Written in 1932, Brave New World centered on a future in which everyone appeared happy and content while in a constant state of consumption (sound familiar?). When an outsider is brought into the 'perfect society', things get a little tricky. The message: we're all willing to give up our freedoms and humanity for a little comfort and entertainment.
After the jump, Scott talks about the script, and the problem with finding 'the perfect writer'.Scott made no promises about the time line for the project and a script is a long way from completion. Scott tells Io9, "No, no no we're still struggling with that one. I have 40 things on the go at once. But that's a very important one. And sometimes, some surface faster than the others. It's partly luck of the draw. Even with a good writer, he'll do it and screw up. So then you go back to the table and start all over again, it's hard. The hardest single thing is getting it on paper." -- No matter what you may think of Scott's films, you have to admire his honesty.

Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut Blu-Ray

The first time i saw Kingdom of Heaven, was in 2005,when it was released in cinemas. In my opinion,it was a good movie.Yesterday,i saw the Director's Cut Blu-Ray.This version has over 40 minutes of additional footage from the original. It's a more complete,a different,as some argue, movie .It'a better movie.Add to that, the fact it's in HD,and you have a very good movie experience.Even if you'have seen the theatrical cut of Kingdom of Heaven, the director's cut is definetely worth watching.
Note:According to Ridley Scott, the studio perceived Kingdom of Heaven as an action-adventure film when it really went much deeper than that. The film was marketed as such, resulting in negative reviews and poor box-office performance. After presenting the film to 20th Century Fox, Scott had to cut the film down for release in theaters. The result was a thinner plot and significantly less characterization and character development. Scott and his crew have all stated that they consider the Director's Cut to be the true version of the film and the theatrical cut more of an action movie trailer for the real film. Reviewers have described it as the most substantial Director's Cut of all time and a title to equal any of Scott's other works.
