Feast of Love Review

Feast of Love is a 2007 film by Robert Benton, starring Morgan Freeman, Fred Ward and several other actors. The cast-ensemble drama, based on the novel of the same name by Charles Baxter, was first released on September 28, 2007 in USA and 2008 in worldwide cinema.
A meditation on love and its various incarnations, set within a community of friends in Portland, Oregon. It is described as an exploration of the magical, mysterious and sometimes painful incarnations of love. (wikipedia.org)
Feast of Love is a bittersweet movie. It is indeed an exploration of the magical, mysterious and sometimes painful incarnations of love.In the movie there is an interesting reflection on love, loneliness and on other subjects. The movie is bittersweet, because the life, the development of the life of the characters is bittersweet."And so we begin again" Harry Stevenson (Morgan Freeman) says in the end of the movie. It is the circle of life.Joy and sorrow, sorrow and joy. That is life and that is love.It has its moments of happinness, but it also has its sad ones.Sometimes it is rewarding, others it is painful. It has a happy or a sad, sometimes tragic ending. It has its challenges but in these moments it appears how strong the love is.
The perfomances are adequate (from which the perfomances of Morgan Freeman and Alexa Davalos stand out). There are nice lines, nice scenes but there are also cliches.I have not read the book,on which the movie is based ,so i can't comment on the differences, etc. To sum up,Feast of Love is a decent movie that is well worth watching.
